Will You #Standwithme Against Bullying?

Will You #Standwithme Against Bullying?

October is National Bullying Prevention Month and we want to celebrate with you! Let’s look at some ways you can prevent bullying and be an upstander.

Ways to Prevent Bullying

If you are a teacher, administrator, or educator, you can create a safe, supportive learning environment with a culture of positivity, respect, and inclusiveness. You might reward positive social behavior in order to encourage that within your classroom or school.

Make sure parents and students as well as other teachers and administrators follow and enforce your school bullying policies. This helps those who might be bullied know that they will be taken care of if an incident occurs.

If you are a parent or caregiver, you might talk with your children about their life, staying up to date on school and digital life. Ask open ended questions to encourage conversation with your child, allowing them to share their experiences, and giving you a great chance to review your expectations for their behavior in person and online.

Remember, you are your child’s greatest example. Living the values you teach is one of the best ways you can ensure your child will be an upstander too.

If you are… well anyone, if you witness bullying, say something! Change or deflect the conversation. If you don’t feel safe doing so, stand up for the person being bullied, even if it is after the fact. Let them know that you support them and are willing to help them feel safe in the future.

Report any bullying you see to someone who can help, such as teachers, administrators, parents, guardians, other community leaders, or the police.

We have a challenge for you!

On our website, we have created the #Standwithme challenge. This is a pledge which shares what you will do to be an upstander in your community.

Because this month is all about spreading awareness and preventing bullying, we wanted to do a little something extra.

We are doing a giveaway!

RULES: To enter, go to https://standandcheerco.com/standwithme-upstander-pledge/ and print the challenge. Then, write one way you will take a stand against bullying. Post a picture holding the sign with the hashtag #Standwithme and tag @standandcheerco in your post. At the end of the month, we will choose one winner out of all the posts to receive a $25 Amazon gift card! Giveaway not sponsored by Amazon.

We look forward to seeing all of your posts and hope you will encourage those around you to take the pledge and be upstanders with you!

Remember, you are not alone!
